Deep Mandarin (DS32)
The crew at Delicious Seeds set out to breed several medicinal-only strains with high levels of CBD for customers with medical needs.
It all started more than three years ago when we received a clone of an excellent strain called Carmen.
We looked into it straight away, grew it, harvested it and then discovered when we smoked it that it has no psychoactive effects and doesn't make you high and yet tastes wonderfully intensely of tangerine.
Since we cloned them during cultivation, we allowed one of these clones to flower, harvested it and had the flowers analyzed using gas chromatography in conjunction with mass spectrometry. We determined a THC value of 8.5 and a CBD value of 12.5.
We were all very surprised and decided to look into this variety even more. We therefore immediately crossed our best varieties with her and worked on each individual crossing.
We achieved our first major success with the DEEP MANDARINE (DS32), a cross between Carmen and one of our most internationally renowned varieties, the brilliant SugarBlackRose.
The result is a plant that has exactly the same shape and structure as the Sugar Black Rose (DS27), but has an intense taste and aroma of orange blossom. They are due to the large amount of terpenes in the plant, which are beneficial to health.
Of course, we couldn't possibly choose a different variety name because the plant basically whispered it to us itself.
The analyzes carried out on all plants so far have shown ratios of 1:1 to 1:3, and some even contained 4% THC and up to 15% CBD. This really surprised us, but also encouraged us to work with this variety to bring it to market in 2016.
