Henk learned that the police station where he had been locked up so many times he could no longer count was for sale. Buying the building and making it the Bulldogs' crown jewel wasn't enough for Henk. He wanted to play a prank on the local authorities.
On April 1st, also known as April Fool's Day, Henk De Vries and The Bulldog announced that the former police station would become The Bulldog Palace, a bar/restaurant with a cafe underneath. The place where people were once locked up should become a place of freedom and joy. No one except Henk's closest confidants believed it until it happened and caused great embarrassment to the local authorities.
You can still visit the former police cells today. The only difference is that you can come and go as you please and the staff is much friendlier.
